I installed UBUNTU, and is working fine. But, during installation it

Anyone noticed this? How to give root password? Can't run synaptic
without root password!!

Try issuing su and then provide a password when asked for it ... I dont remember when I was asked for it on my Ubuntu ... but this is how it was set I guess!! <<Gulp>>

Very funny. It did ask me for the root password and an user password during expert install (which is the only way)... then it would not let me login as I had probably forgotten the psswd..or that is what it wanted me to believe. Then I booted into the terminal as root and without password...and fixed it.

How can one install easily from the debian sarge dvd on this ?
