Hi
<snip>
My guess is if I report it to NASSCOM/MS they may take it up with
these PSU's
and reach some sort of shady understanding ( likely of Microsoft ) or the
PSU management
shall assure of full investigation into the matter and a few years later
issue a clean-chit
and probably victimise me for reporting them . Do not forget that for
Microsoft they are
buying SOME software and are big PROSPECTS , also they have Government
backing
and doubt NASSCOM or MS shall so much as STIR them !!!!
More than the occassional individual usage I am worried about
this trend in BIG
corporates . It takes a lot of wind out of the Linux point of view and
discourages
adopting Linux . Frankly speaking I have no idea why any newbie / business /
establishment
would use Linux if MS Windoze / Offce is for FREE with no fear of any
serious action .
</snip>
Some year ago almost same situation was in my College. All the lab
computers were assembled by local vendor to cut cost and the vendors
installed Pirated windozes in them.
No one has any headach cause there was Turbo C , QBASIC and PASCAL
compilers (these are also pirated) in the machine for programming. But
in one of the summer vacation when we leaved our college we saw as
usual lab full of Windoze computers but when returned they all are
installed with Linux , Red Hat Linux. Our Lab Ass said these was done
since you guys must learn UNIX and Linux as we are Computer Science
and Technology Student.
But later we got the real picture some one complained about the
pirated windoxes to NASSCOM from there M$ knew about it charges about
rs 2000000 / year or else will drag our college to court.
So I think compleing to NASCOMM can produce good result. Like in US M$
has som much strong hold that ppl really fear to use pirated windozes
cause they may get cought any time.
