hi all, I don't know whats the problem in using php or mysql or whatever it is for acadamic projects. More than the language used to get the idea done, i believe the idea, the plan and study involved in it and why php is choosen(ther should be a good reason to choose it too!). So many things can be done in php, by mixing it with mysql.
I am none to counter the arguments of professors, but projects as part of b tech curriculam as far i know, is more about learning how to execute an idea, than about programming fundamentals(i thought enough lab and theory sessions are specified in curriculam for the fundamentals). If somebody feels his idea is best executable by php and the project is upto the level of a semester project(something which carries around 100 marks), he/she should be given the space to argue.
