Sorry for top-posting

I have also heard from many students that they can't do any projects
in PHP/MySQL. Some months back a student from a self financing college
in Ernakulam district approached my company for project but the HOD of
the said college rejected the project without even looking into the
project requirements, simply because it's a web application project.
The same student told me that the HOD approved some projects based on
networking which were actually copied from the project report of
seniors.

I don't know why MCA(Master of Computer Applications) students are not
allowed to do web application projects. Note that MCA is not a course
to teach the programming skills. AFAIK, MCA is a course to expose
students to the real application programming.

There may be web apps which are substandard, but don't forget well
written projects like Horde, Moodle, Joomla, Drupal, Gforge,
VtigerCRM, etc..

I think that this is high time we should alert the academics that
PHP/MySQL is not untouchable.
