hi, I thought we were discussing about projects not about the qualification of teachers. Monitoring projects is a tough job when one don't know the technology or thought level of his students. But, it is no reason to restrict any ideas. There should be some merit level for each project.
In last one year i saw a lot of student projects than i saw in last two years of b tech. None of them were yearly b tech projects, but course projects associated with each subjects. I should say, each of them would be easily accepted as a final year project in many engg. colleges(there were research papers, independent ideas, applications, web portals etc.). The important thing was that, each of them had a purpose. Thats what lacking in many of the student projects i think. It is not bad to advice students to look into IEEE or any technical publisher like springer in that case for ideas. But i don't believe students should be restricted to something on any basis. The projects and works of students can be well converted to a source of income for the self financing colleges(i have seen many people doing that). I don't have a direct example to point my finger in Kerala. But I am quite sure, we can see better ideas coming up from our students in near future. cheers Jinesh K J On Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM, Arun M <[email protected]> wrote: > > I had a teacher, who asked me to show the Java Virutal Machine ;) > All this issue will be solved only when, teaching becomes an > attractive profession for good quality engg graduates. > > No shortcuts.
