I think fanatic is too strong a word to use in this context. Would you
say that Gandhiji was a fanatic for freedom? Or Mandela for that matter?
I know that there are people who believe that the British rule did a lot
of good for the country, and some even say that it would have been so
much better if the British were still ruling India, because, apparently
according to them, we would have had much less problems. From that point
of view, Gandhiji, Subhash Chandra Bose and so many others become
fanatics. Moreover, let us remember that we are talking about the
software world. That certainly does not mean that we are quite happy
with everything else. Just a look at RMS's blog would show what all
things he fights. But right now, here, we are concerned about software
and we certainly cannot take on the whole world and make everything
free. Each one of us, as individuals, may have a number of concerns, but
cannot fight battles in all fronts simultaneously.
