Two unrelated questions. First let me try the first one. The second one is really not something I know. I want to switch over to Atom DP480PT or some such thing that comes with mobo + processor for ~ 3k. It is a very attractive price point and I can easily create an appliance with it. Its performance also is very impressive. It does not have a IDE port and it comes with two SATA ports and only one NIC. Many USB ports. It is Mini ITX blah blah blah. Fanless. Now to answer your question: Enterprise web app with postgres or mysql? I wonder what all will go with it. To run a DB like pg or mysql you need good disk performance and a lot of disk space. Of course you can do that with Atom. I am not a DB guy, so I may be wrong but then I use Atom on my desktop. It can run full screen video with good performance. It is quite fast. Really. But there are situations when you will clearly see the sluggishness. When I run VMs with qemu it has a problem. Or even Firefox. But it is really value for money. It is nice. If it had had one more NIC and a better power supply arrangement(with external laptop like power supply) it would have been nice. Now about Asterisk. Asterisk is something that will require horsepower from many angles I think. It is quite comprehensive and has many dependencies. I think it should work. Try it. Only way would be to try it yourself. -Girish -- Gayatri Hitech http://gayatri-hitech.com [email protected] _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
