And was this discussed threadbare and democratically on the list by the Domain administrator of Linux Delhi and done with the consent of the community ? Or rather did the domain administrator even announce it on the list ( so it could be discussed ) or just presumed to represent and act on behalf of the community of 3700+ members registered members and countless un-registered members ? As something offtopic: There's a Linux community site in India on which all rights are reserved for a certain "X" corporation as per the footer I wonder if that site needs to be taken down. Did I hear someone say double standards as yet. </sarcasm> And if so are there any valid objections to myself claiming to maintain a site after being abandoned by its original maintainers to uncertainty(over really trivial and meaningless arguments) for a few days until I could find someone creative ( and nice to train and handover to ) I had mentioned as much as that I would be technically managing the creative and put the site back up in the view of a general opinion that the site should be back up as soon as possible and did leave the option below. If the community has a problem please go ahead and point the site to another location. However I do not believe that the domain administrator of linux delhi is an "elected" representative of community and therefore I believe its not a decision taken by the community. However as an ordinary LUG member ( one who never claimed to be a "something-designate" ) interested in getting this initiative going forward with or without the original members( yes I was one of the original persons who would have liked to see this happen without a hitch ). I would like to request Sandip to point creative.lug-delhi.org ( since I no longer believe its the community that controls linux-delhi.org domain and Sandip doesn't claim anything official about what is on his domain ) to the original site and can Mairu ( who also happens to moderate the content on the current linux-delhi.org site ) act as a moderator for the creative content and make sure the site's I think this is going to be a long discussion on how the community chooses to work. So if "benovalent dictatorship" ( an oxymoron) is the way community chooses to manage itself then so be it, I choose to follow the leaders in the process and policy. If it happens to be a democracy and consultative process let it be pervasive and not selectively applied as a principle and without letting anyone being disenfranchised on the basis of location.. and inability to be physically present during the voting process. Perhaps we need to discuss how a initiatives to this effect are being scuttled by interests ( resisting the temptation to call them vested as yet as I feel there is still hope ) claiming to represent the community ( or this is just my view -- I would be happy to be proven wrong on this count for the community's sake ) -Tarun -- http://www.tarundua.net Nothing you ever wanted to find about Tarun Dua _______________________________________________ ilugd mailinglist -- [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
