Hello, My Rev C has worked quite well for me since I purchased it new. However, about three weeks ago the tray-loading CD player stopped loading my CDs. It makes a short whirring sound (like it's trying to read the CD) three times and then a dialogue box appears that reads "This disk is unreadable by this computer. Do you want to initialize this disk?" In the format section of this I am given only the option of "Pro Dos." When I click on "Pro Dos" I get another option below it in a pull down menu form, but the second option is blank. When I choose the blank option, I get another dialogue saying the CD is "Locked" and I am asked if I want to eject the CD.
None of my CDs will work in the tray loading CD. Music and software CD produce the same result. These same CDs work just fine on my other three Macs. Now, this CD failure started about a week after I hooked up a new LaCie CD-RW to my USB hub. The problem didn't start immediately. In fact, I copied several software CDs using the internal CD player and the external CD burner before the tray loading CD player went out. I am using Roxio Toast Lite to burn CDs. Has anyone had their tray loading CD go out on them? How much does a new one cost? Any ideas what I might try? I've looked all over the net and I haven't found this exact problem.
