Hi Michael--

I have a similar problem in a 333MHz Revision D, but it is currently more
intermittent. I cleaned the drive with compressed air and it seemed to improve
things somewhat although it was not a complete fix by any means.

The drive whirrs several times trying to read a music or data CD until I open
the tray and eject the disk. I don't believe it asks to format an unreadable
disk but I usually eject it and try again before it completely gives up. Many
times after 1 to 3 attempts it will read the disk and work just fine.

I have not added any new hardware and, like yours, the CDs work fine in all
other computers.

I hope someone can offer better advise for a fix.

Wally
