On a couple of PCs with similar problems I have used a lens cleaning CD with success. Compressed air may not be getting the lens cleaned enough. The lens cleaning CD has tiny brushes embeded in it that remove any dirt from the CD drive lens. Its worth a try. The lens cleaning CD costs about 8 to 10 $.
