OK, stupid question. What exactly is your router in this case? My cable 
modem has the ethernet cable on one end running into my computer's 
port , with the cable connecting to the modem just below. i don't have a 
firewall as of yet, but couldn't quite understand how you're getting 
that protection with a router. Is that like a hub?
