Many, many companies on the internet have tried to offer services like iTools with free email, free disk space, free webspace, all rolled into one. This is a VERY expensive proposition, more expensive than a lot of people can imagine. The bandwidth bill alone for a heavily used service like this must be staggering. Most of the other companies that offered services like these have gone out of business, are now charging for this service, or have discarded the service all together. I know a LOT of people at Apple.
