    AppleCare is always a good investment.  It's very inexpensive insurance when you 
think of it.  The reason most of us get AppleCare for laptops is because the 
replacement parts are so expensive.  The LCDs alone are often half the cost of a new 
machine (over a thousand dollars for a replacement screen for a G4 Powerbook).  
Because your iMac has a Flat Panel screen, a rather expensive part to replace, I think 
you would be well advised to get AppleCare just in case anything ever happens to the 
screen.  And it's always nice to be able to call up Apple and ask questions!
