it's humorous that you would claim that top-posting is favored by the ancient users of the net in the 70's... it happens that, on USENET, a great flamewar was waged on this subject by the likes of Eric Raymond and such; (somewhat) great men who actually participated in creating what the internet is now. the guys who actually participated in creating many of the generic tools that run the internet. despite your hyperbole, if you look at your arguments, you seem to prefer top posting because it's more convenient for YOU. You don't seem to consider how it affects others. you also haven't ONCE responded to my (or anyone else's) logical arguments on the subject. you've just said "this is the best way" in about a dozen different ways. it actually happens that bottom-posting is the preferred method in email-list and usenet communication. top-posting is just fine, and semi-preferred for private communication. the reason for including quoted text is to put your message in context. you aren't quoting the message for your own convenience, and you aren't quoting the message for the convenience of the person you're replying to. as i've said multiple times, you're quoting for the convenience of those who haven't been following the conversation lately. Bottom-posting is also preferred because lots of people read this list in Digest form. That is, they get one (or more) emails each day that contain all the day's messages in one email, in chronological order. As such, they HAVE to scroll down to read emails. Just because YOU can't be bothered to scroll down, or you're just too damned lazy to do so, that doesn't mean that everyone else is, too. But then, you're probably too lazy to scroll down this far and actually read a decent argument on the subject. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
