I don't think anyone is suggesting burying your reply beneath mountains of quoted text. If we are going to continue the journal analogy, lets look at it this way - if you were reading a book, and you had to stop in the middle of a sentence or a paragraph, when you resumed your reading a few hours later you might read a few sentences that you had already read to remind yourself what was going on in the book before you stopped. This is like a small, well trimmed quote before your post. Quoting everything at the top would be like re-reading the entire book because you had to stop. Quoting everything (or even a well trimmed selection) at the bottom of your post would be like taking the half of the book you had already read (or the last few pages), ripping it off the unread part of the book, and duct taping it to the back of the book in case you ever wanted to look back at it. -John -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
