You may notice that the repetition of "Outlook" and "Hotmail" here. Having all these styles on its bar to easily put into a message was Microsoft's attempt to make email a Microsoft format instead of a simple, open one. All those using other mailers who complained were told they should just use Outlook Express, which was free anyway. Eventually, most other mailers were forced to attempt to display these styles or be out of the market. (Fortunately it hasn't gone as far as in word-processing, where if you can't use a DOC file, you get a blank "what else is there?" response.) Thus along with red 48 point italics, you can now get emails that pop open penis enlargement ads with graphic illustrations, while simultaneously an Outlook virus is busily sending copies of random documents for your disk to everyone in your address book. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
