It depends on the tech and the circumstance- nobody's perfect and
there's different levels of techs; even Apple's techs are mostly
windoze users at home and there's good ones and mediocre ones. Often a
local ISP can be nightmarish when it comes to Mac support if any exists
at all. Earthlink has an excellent technical walk- through database
online that even includes instructions for setting up a Newton for
email retrieval and has helped me, among other things, troubleshoot
connecting an ancient Mac SE SuperDrive to the Internet.

I'll continue to recommend Earthlink to Mac users until I'm shown
there's a better overall ISP for Mac users or otherwise. As for Dale's
connection difficulties, well, those are just some of the frustrating
challenges associated with dial- up regardless of your platform. I
certainly experienced them for several years and still do when I use
dial up to connect my iBook via a cell phone when on the road. Of
course, all of the problems I had with dial up were solved with DSL. In
*my* case, it was economically viable (and I live close enough to get
an outstanding connection speed) to get DSL because I was paying for a
separate phone line anyway while I had dial up. The cost of the line
and the dial up subscription roughly equal the DSL cost now and when I
factor in the lack of trouble shooting, waiting for a connection and
busy modems, the DSL is cheaper.
