Well, maybe I'm not explaining it adequately or maybe you don't utilize the same functions that I do. I've emailed MS support about it and they acknowledge its existence. Of course, they blame it on the OS. I think we could agree that explaining in detail to you what I mean would be fruitless. I'm happy for you that you don't experience this annoyance. >> >> 2. As do most of mine. However, if your browsing session continues, eventually they either get in the way or present an intrusion that IE does not deal with forcing you to either quit to rid the windows or manually dismiss them. > Not a big deal in my experience. > Wonderful. But you listed several things that *are * a big deal to you and this happens not to be among them. It is for me. >> >> 3. Loads pages slower. > > Not with a cable connection. I have 1 Mbps DLS which, unlike cable, never risks being shared- that might account for your perceived difference- when your node is active you're sharing bandwidth with potentially hundreds of others. So, maybe you can't perceive a difference, but I certainly can. Although, in a way, I agree; what's 2 or 3 seconds vs. 1 second to load a page? Well, when you get used to something and the technology exists, why not take advantage of it instead of settling for the status quo? That's what Apple's always been about- raising the bar. 2 or 3 seconds saved every page, every day, adds up at the end of the year, I guess. > Some sites actually load faster in IE - > instantly in some cases. Whatever. Safari, apples for apples, loads a page faster. The same phenomenon as to why browsers used to be faster on pee-cees applies here. Safari is native Mac and optimized for such. No debate. > Again, it all depends on the site. Some are > equally slow in both IE and Safari. I've also experienced "your > browser not > supported" in Safari. Again, agreed. IE frequently (about 1 out 4 times) would stall in my OLB site. Safari loads and navigates without problem. (www.wamu.com) >> >> 5. No built- in Google search. > > No big deal.
