Indeed, that sounds more like the problem, but I've looked at the 
preferences and "enable Java" is clicked.  But it is certainly 
something that is preventing the browser from accepting a page that 
takes me (or my wife) from a regular page to a page that allows log-on 
options.

I suppose i'll have to call my isp folks tomorrow morning and see if 
they have any ideas.
