Not exactly. No one (that I've ever seen) has ever proven that any one kind of RAM works consistently in getting older iMacs over certain plateaus. For one, I've always used the exact same RAM. I've found that almost every tray-loader will get to somewhere in the 256MB-384MB range. Above that is common, but even using the same ram every time, it's not universal. I've had dozens upon dozens of iMacs come into my shop that I couldn't get above 256 or 384, regardless of the RAM I plug into it. I have plenty that went all the way up to 512 (and one I even got up to 640MB by installing a 256MB chip and a 512MB chip (yes, I know that doesn't add up, but here we are)). -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
