How this one incident relates to Apple Care I can only dream
of, however.
I guess he could have looked for a used board, front panel
and directions on how to replace it himself.. It is not like these G4
400s are blowing out by the hundreds. There are plenty of used parts
on this site and others.
Maybe he just wanted a new computer. He could have sold the
salvage parts for money towards a new machine, if that idea was
presented.. We all have choices.
Yes things can go wrong, but it does not take a rocket
scientist to take a computer apart and put in an used part. A little
tense the first time for some of us, but lots of good folks usually
answer your questions. After that it gets easier and people keep the
machines running and out of land fills.. When it time to upgrade go
buy what you want.
I really respect Apple for standing behind what they sell. If
there is a problem in the product line they usually fix it, i.e.,.
5300s RMA. The power adapters. What other computer company does that.
Who knows what blew this out, could have been manufactured on
Friday at 4:45 pm or he might not use a UPS, his kid could of put a
penny in it. Things happen, people have choices how they spend their
money.. This whole site is about keeping our Macs running at a low
cost. Hiring a repair person is usually not low cost choice.. It does
however keep you in business and that is good too. All about
choices., Apple Care is wise for a new machine.
