Nobody has said that your machine will spontaneously stop working when the AppleCare runs out. What I *did* say was that after a machine is out of warranty, it is no longer economically viable to fix it when it breaks. Sure you can continue using it -- for years on end, perhaps -- but when it breaks, it will be more viable to replace it than fix it.
