You can of course still get Word *and* WordPerfect. In the case of the former, Word is an active product for the Mac (though I imagine you were referring to the much-praised Word 5.1a?) and runs in OS X, and WordPerfect 3.5e is available free (hard to find, but out there) and runs in Classic (I think) or OS 9.x with a patch. This page (http://emulation.net/macintosh/) lists three (!!) OS X-capable "System 6-8" emulators that will let you run older software (I'm talking stuff that breaks under OS 9) really well under OS X.
