None. That's all handled by the OS.

I hope this helps you and others who need to sometimes enter characters
that don't appear on the English keyboard.

YMMV, but I find it easier to switch to the foreign keyboard layout.
OS X includes a Spanish and Spanish ISO layout in the International
panel under System Preferences. The advantage is that the accented
and special characters can be typed with either one keystroke or two
(but no option key needed). The downside is that a few other
characters get shifted around to make room for the accented/special
characters so you have to learn their new locations.
Turn on the Spanish and Spanish ISO options in the International
Keyboard Menu, then launch Key Caps to see the actual layouts. Then
you can decide if either of these works for you.
If you can find a Spanish keyboard, it will have the advantage of
having the physical key caps properly labeled.
