I have the exact same problem - I bought a Strawberry iMac on EBay for 
my kids - 3 weeks after I bought it, it kakked - just like yours. 
Apparently this particular model is prone to the analog/video board 
going out after 2 or 3 years, like a time bomb.

I wanted to try to fix it myself, but since it involves discharging the 
CRT, I can't go there. My plan is to take it to the shop, see if 
they'll sell it minus the repair costs...
