Not really.  They aren't the easiest to get to, but replacement is a snap.
Set the drive jumper to Master and plug it in and format it.

Take standard 3.5" drives.  CompUSA has a sale right where a 30gb Maxtor
costs $69 and there is a $30 mail in rebate with a $5 instant savings making
a new 30gb Drive only $34.  It's 7200 RPM too!
