Maxtor is my "drive of choice" for all ATA installations. Western Digital
has the highest failure rating in my shop. I have Maxtor in all my personal
machines as well. I speak from the experience of a wide installation base.
I install several HD's a day. Hundreds a month. Maxtor has the best rating
according to my data. WD the worst.

I prefer 7200 RPM drives. Even if the machine will not benefir I make it a
habit to install 7200's. I do this in case the machine dies, and the HD is
transplanted into a newer Mac or a FW case. They are just a few dollars
more than 5400rpm drives so It's worth it IMHO.
