Hello. Will a new emac with an airport extreme card be able to connect to a 802.11b airport base station (first generation)? Are they compatible? I was also told that a 802.11b wireless card would not work in a new mac computer, correct? What I'm looking to do is just buy a card to connect to my old airport base station. I don't want to buy a new base station. Thanks in advance.
hardware-wise, a computer will either take an Airport card or an Airport Extreme cards. They are different, incompatible types of cards. However, Airport and Airport Extreme equipped Macs (and pc's) can peacefully coexist on the same wireless network.
