airport extreme

Has anyone here connected Macs with PCs via Airport or Airport Extreme? 
 I know the specs say you can if each of the computers have the right 
card, but has anyone done it?  How about including printers in the mix? 
 Do Airport connections slow down dial-up or DSL transmissions, in your 
opinion?  My sons each have fairly loaded PCs.  I have an iMac, but 
plan to get a Powerbook after WWDC (I want to see what's announced 
first).
