I have a 700 MHz Flat Panel iMac. It currently has 384MB of memory. I've seen some of the 1GB memory kits for good prices and was wondering how hard it is to swap the memory. i know the user-accessible slot is pretty easy to get to, but how about the internal slot? The computer is out of warranty, and I have no problem taking computers apart (I've worked on dozens). Are there instructions somewhere out there for this?
i'm sure there are instructions, but you hardly need them. the bottom comes off the same way that the bottom cover comes off. four screws come out, and it pops off.
two things to consider: - you will need thermal paste to put it back together. - you will need a torque torx-15 that tightens to 17in-lbs.
if you don't already have that wrench, it may be cheaper or easier to pay someone do it for you.
