I remember shopping for my first mac (my first home computer ever) when the pristine, snowy flat panels were just introduced. My eyes would bug out as I read all the adverts Apple is so good at putting out. It never mentioned the grease when they described the ease of opening the bottom up for upgrading the memory. Interesting fact.
the "easy" slot doesn't require paste application. plate pops off, ram goes in, plate goes back on.
the "top slot", OTOH, is a different story. it requires more effort.
