I don't have a flat panel iMac and I have to laugh when I think about Small Dog guiding through replacing the bad RAM in my Flower Power...I was sure I'd hurt it! But that said...thermal paste? Removing the screws breaks a glued seal or something like that?
Yes. There is a heat transfer seal that is broken when you remove the
bottom. You need to put thermal grease on the contacts when you put it back
together. A lot of people ignore that step...then their machine fries.
remove the old paste first!
