So, i still have an internet incapable iMac, which I want to make internet capable.
No you don't. You have a modem-incapable iMac. Ever heard of broadband?
I guess that means an external USB modem, unless they have firewire ones, although I don't see why they would. So, any recomendations for me?
This is a sign from your god or gods that it is time for Cable or DSL.
Chas, not everybody lives in an area where those are available. I have NO access to DSL or cable even though they are available 5 miles north of my location. I looked at DirectWay but that is PC only since a card has to be installed in the computer. I DID find out that there is a system that is the same as DW but all the required components are in an external box. It costs about $2500 for hardware purchase & installation, and then the service is $100 per month. There is a "wireless" system called DigitalPath that is coming to my area; I'm on the list but I don't know if my location will work. So I'm stuck on dial-up. The bottom line is that Apple needs to support PCI modems just like PCs.
