Did your old PC have two Ethernet ports?  What kind of software did you use on it to 
share the internet connection?

How about using a stand alone hardware router to share the connection?  You can 
probably get one for jut as cheap if not cheaper than a USB or Firewire ethernet 
adapter for the imac.
