Have you ever wondered what happened to the G1 and the G2 label? Why did they start with G3? Why not G1? When G3 first came out, I thought perhaps it stood for generation three of the power PC computer, and therefore there must have been a generation 1 and 2. However, the power PCs had a 601, a 603, and a 604, which messed up my theory. I also thought that perhaps if G3 stood for third generation, maybe it was because it followed the NeXT generation in someone's line of reasoning. Obviously, you would have first, NeXT, and third, right? Any thoughts on this, or am I the only one that wonders about these things?
Teh 680x0 was G1 The PowerPC (601, 603e, 604) was G2
