Out here in NJ, we have Bryers Ice Cream, and Edy's Ice Cream. But in other parts of the country, Edy's goes by its original name Dryers. They couldn't use that name in NJ (or other areas around here), because Bryers already had a very similar name in use in the ice cream industry.
While here we have both Dryers and Bryers. Explain that one?
On the other hand, a Restaurant chain here was allowed to compete with a long established fast food burrito place named Chubby's. Their name? El Chubby's.
To this day I am not sure which is which.
