I have a slotloader iMac 350, put a 30G WD HD into it some time ago. First
hard drive swap I had done (though I'd had the case apart before), and it
wasn't too hard. I'm curious as to why the instructions say to remove the
carrier. Don't know if it's different from yours, but on mine I was unable
to see any good reason to remove the carrier at all, and successfully
swapped the drive without doing so. YMMV.
