I claim to be no expert on the Mac, just an end user of a 17 inch 1 gig iMac and you all have me completely confused.
KeshavTADIMETI, take it from me......X will probably run like crap on that iMac so I'd run OS 9 'cause it doesn't have enough RAM. Once you do get a Mac that will run X on it decently, you will have no need for Linux as you'll already have BSD-Unix running on it.
If you're already 'Mac-curious' as I was about 3 years ago, chances are you're unhappy with the constant problems your PC is handing you and you'll end up switching in the long run anyway. So, play with your iMac and make your decision after doing a bit of research here and there and by talking to people who already own one. Don't listen to these 'experts' who can't seem to agree on anything.
