11g over USB 1.1, is kind of silly, since 11g is faster than USB 1.1 - but you can get 
11g USB 2.0 adapters.  don't know if any are mac compatible though.  Linksys makes one:

But I can't open an FTP connection from my work computer to look at the product data

Linksys (and several other companies) make or will soon make 11g to Ethernet adapters 
that work with Macs, PCs, video game consoles, printers, set top multimedia boxes, 
basically anything with an Ethernet port:
