Look to see if anything in your extensions folder might be competing for the Zip Drive. The USB Mass Storage extension is a culprit. and disable them. Also, for the sake of trouble shooting, try diabling any other storage drivers, like the Super Disk Drive, USB Floppy Drive, MP3 players, Card Readers, .... Stuff like that Restart the computer. If it works, your golden, just turn on the extensions one by one till you find the culprit. If it doesn't work... Hmmm. You can get an OS 8.5 CD from Mac Solutions real cheap.
