Chris,

I know this sounds like a ridiculous question, but where is the jumper
located?=20

Not a ridiculous question at all!

The answer is that on most IDE hard drives there is a set of small "pins" with a tiny rubber or ceramic thingy holding two of the pins together. That thingy is the jumper.

Find out the make and model of your hard drive, then visit the manufacturer's website to look up a visual guide to where the jumpers are.

"The Mac interface is not 'sexy', and it would be grotesque to want it to be. It is, in fact, playful, often well over the line into frivolity. [They] are not individually rationalizable on utilitarian grounds, and they do not pretend they mean to be. They are there to, in aggregate, change the nature of your relationship with the device. They are joyful, and they hope their joy is infectious." -- Glenn McDonald
