I used the following from Unsanity in 10.2: WindowshadeX, Xounds,
FruitMenu, and ClearDock. The first three restore features that were
in Mac OS 9 but are still missing in 10; the last one makes the
background of the Dock totally transparent so the Dock icons seem to
float over the desktop.

It does more than that as well. Very useful for some desktop pictures that have a dark background.

I'm running Cleardock in Panther with no problems, though IIRC I had to update the APE Manager thingy first.

If Apple would get in gear and restore the
features, then people wouldn't need to get the 3rd party stuff.

If people would just get with the program and stop relying on OS 9 crutches, they'd be a lot more productive. There are two sides to that view. I personally find that Expose and the "Genie" effect make the Windowshade effect obsolete; Xounds of course has never had any useful purpose whatsoever except to take up WAY too much RAM and cause system slowdowns; and FruitMenu is IMHO for people who don't understand how to use the Dock properly. Folders and drive icons in the Dock are hierarchal: click and hold and voila! Instant access to anything you want.

Claiming that the Macintosh is inferior to Windows because most people use Windows is like saying that all other restaurants are inferior to McDonald's.
