Yes, but as the CD has a System Folder and I am ticking the box for bootable, the copy should have them shouldn't it... ---
It's also quite possible that the CD your friend has simply doesn't work on your model iMac.

Possibility but I doubt it. ---
I think the most PRACTICAL solution to your problem is simply
to buy a replacment from a vendor or on ebay.

The reason for pursuing this is so that I can then burn custom bootable disks.
