OK, I must have mistyped it wrong the first time because a second typing produced the Debug menu.
Problem now is, I don't know how to use it to get the results I'm after: which is to have Safari fool the pages that aren't behaving properly into doing the right thing by me. Tonight I had to open Netscape again to perform one function on compuserve, whereas everytime I try that URL on Safari, it downloads a little file and does nothing (else). The little file don't do nothin neither.

Scroll down the Debug menu to "user agent", select the one you want to use and click it. For the duration of that session on that web site Safari will mimic the chosen browser.

Just under FYI. I have had no problems with Safari accessing the Compuserve URL you referenced with the normal automatic setting in user agent. May be some other problem than just the browser issue?
