Simple Solution:
Take a working floppy drive. Remove the face plate plastic and glue it to a 3.5" tin tray which you then mount in the case instead of a floppy drive.
Take the remains of the floppy drive and hide it behind a blanking plate.
On newer cases with moulded floppy accesses on the front you only need the tray.
