Dear Ben:
I have a graphite iMac slot loader.
When I was running Jaguar, I found that I could not
have two forms of OS9 installed -- for example, Classic
next to X on the X partition and OS9.2.2 by itself on the
other partition. When I tried to launch anything in OS9
the computer would complain, apparently unable to decide
which OS9 to go to.
Therefore, when I decided to install Panther, I
partitioned my drive into two parts -- put Panther on one
partition and OS 9.2.2 on the other. At first Panther gave
a few shudders and refused to boot up easily -- but then it
adapted to the situation and everything has been working
well since. I too would like to have a few versions of OS9
& X on one computer, but it does not seem to work.
The experts have not rushed to explain this situation,
but I want you to know that you're not alone out there,
thinking about this problem! MarJo
