No need to boot from a floppy. :-)

The only reason the machine would go down into a non bootable state is if
there is a failure. In that event, the machine would be pulled from
service and swapped with a spare. Once a machine fails for any reason, it
is removed from service until it can be fully tested and inspected. Once
it is repaired and reinspected, if it is considered good again, it goes
into storage as a backup unit (filling the void left by the one that was
taken from storage to act as its replacement). There may be a need for a
floppy during this test/repair cycle, but at that time the machine is on
a work bench with its cover off, so adding a known good floppy into the
mix during repair is a simple task.

This works only because all 34 workstations are identical, and no one has
personal files on any of them. They are used purely for call center work.
So machines can be swapped with each other at any time and no one knows
the difference. Any custom data needed for a specific station is pulled
from the network when the machine is logged in. The logon identifies the
station on the network, and is then handed anything it may need from the
servers.

Basically, these machines are glorified thin-clients. So there really is
zero need for local floppy usage in the call center. The last time I
*needed* a local bootable floppy in the machines was the end of 1999 when
I had to update the BIOS in the stations to allow for y2k.

But this is WAY off topic now for an iMac list (unless you very loosely
connect the lack of a floppy need with the fact that Apple foresaw this
reality back in 1998 with the release of the iMac)
