H/W - iMac slot loader, 500Mhz/380Mb/40Gb

Problem:
I have just upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.3 and I can no longer run classic, I
have the HDD partitioned with 9.22 in the first partition (and another
cut-down copy of 9.22 in the OSx partition for classic), I can boot to 9.22
or 10.3 fine, however when I try to start classic from 10.3 I get the
following error message: "There is a problem with updating the
classic-specific files. Classic is unable to update its files in system
folder on OS9" I have tried using both OS9 folders for classic, however I
get the same message from either.
Things I have tried:
1) re-installed 9.22 - no change
2) ran Disk warrior 3 - found and fixed some errors - still no change
3) ran disk repair and fixed OS9 permissions - no change
I am tearing my hair out over this (I need classic as my son's 'educational'
games are all pre OSx.
Can anyone offer any suggestions??
Many thanks.
Ben.
