That left me free to leave the (usually) broken floppy drive alone on the
PC, and let them do whatever they please with it. I went with my solution
after I swapped out my 3rd broken drive due to their index card storage
habits. At that point I wasn't willing to invest further resources in
replacing drives, so I moved my drive access to a machine that is in a
locked room, and let the network do its job.
Total "repair" time... about 30 seconds to share the drive on the server.
Problem solved for all 34 workstations at the same time. Total "repair"
cost (hard dollars)... $0.00. Saving my sanity... Priceless! :-)
And when the machine throws a dinger and you need to boot from a Floppy? Enough said.
